Pursuing your dreams of becoming an entertainer is tough and you need to have a good sense of humor. Chris Tavener, with his own brand of satirical comedy songs, is modeling this superbly well to others in the industry.
It’s the 2nd of 2 nights at the Three Minute Theatre and both nights have sold out.
Before Chris came on stage, you could hear the echoes of someone's thoughts coming from the stage. Someone psyching themselves up for something massive… after the final “come on… just do it” he races onto the stage. “Don’t forget to give them a warm welcome” his thoughts reminds him
The self-styled artist from Cheshire blends stories, melodies, and one-liners with a comedic edge that occasionally oversteps the lines of political correctness. Chris can, however, be forgiven for his occasional insensitivities by the fact he’s self-decrepitating and genuinely light-hearted. Professing in his song Faking Cool that he’s ‘smoother than playdough and harder than hard-boiled sweets’, you can’t help but laugh
After explaining that Millennials are better than Baby Boomers he apologises for any upset that might be caused as he launches into the songs which begins ‘dear old people. Ripples of laughter were a consistent theme where the audience was concerned.
Few acts can claim to work as hard as Chris. After totting up 350 performances in 2016, it’s not hard to see why venues are filling up to see that artist who is Faking Cool.
